There’s a lot of noise out there right now — especially when you're newly engaged and searching for a wedding venue. And I get it. I’ve seen it firsthand: beautiful websites, Pinterest-perfect promises… but behind the curtain? It’s not always what it seems.

I’m Amy Mitchum, owner of The Barn at Cedar Grove. What began as a labor of love for my daughter’s wedding in 2011 has grown into something much bigger — a place where couples feel cared for, not just booked. We didn’t get into this because weddings looked like easy money. We’ve built this place intentionally, one wedding, one couple, and one meaningful detail at a time.

And whether you're planning a tiny elopement or a full-on family celebration, I want you to feel confident about where you’re hosting — and who’s standing behind the scenes making it happen.

We offer packages that fit a wide range of budgets — from $850 elopements to all-inclusive weddings for 200+ guests. But more than that, we offer something that’s getting harder to find: real, dependable hospitality. The kind where we truly care, where we show up early and stay late, and where we handle the cleanup no matter which package you chose — because no one should end their wedding day with a mop in hand.

Weddings Made Simple — or Spectacular

Every couple is different. Some want to plan every detail themselves, and others want to hand over the reins and simply enjoy the day. That’s why we offer three types of packages:

  • Elopements: Just the two of you (or a small circle of family) and a peaceful, beautiful setting. No fluff. Just love.
  • Build-Your-Own: You choose your vendors, bring your ideas, and we provide the space, support, and set-up. You’ll never feel like you’re on your own.
  • All-Inclusive: Florals, food, DJ, décor, coordination — all bundled together with a team that knows how to make the magic happen (without the stress).

We’re not just offering a barn and some chairs. We’re giving you the confidence that things will be taken care of — that your wedding matters to us.

What Southern Hospitality Really Means

People toss around the phrase “southern hospitality” like it’s a trend. But here, it’s a way of life. It’s walking your grandma to her seat. It’s fluffing your dress when your hands are full. It’s checking in the week before to make sure you haven’t forgotten anything (and then double checking on the day-of).

Sondra handles catering and logistics like she was born for it. Missy brings her educator’s heart to every timeline and ceremony cue. And Sandy? She’s the calming presence you want on your wedding day — clipboard in hand, ready for anything.

We don’t clock in and out. We show up with our hearts in it.

For the Bride and Her Family

I know a lot of parents are helping foot the bill — and I don’t take that lightly. We do our best to make your investment feel worth it. We’re up front with pricing. We answer your calls. We don’t nickel-and-dime you with add-ons.

And if your daughter is the kind that wants to be hands-on? Great. If she wants to show up and have it all handled? We can do that too.

Make a Weekend of It

Our venue doesn’t offer on-site lodging, but our family’s Airbnb homes at Garrison Farmstead and The House at Cedar Grove are right next door — close enough to feel convenient, but with the privacy and charm of a countryside stay. They're perfect for wedding parties, parents, or a peaceful honeymoon night.

You Can Trust Us

If you’ve been researching venues, you’ve probably seen some that look the part but don’t deliver. I understand how hard it is to know who’s going to follow through. All I can say is this: we’re in this for the long haul. We’ve worked too hard and cared too much to be lumped in with those just chasing quick money.

You deserve to feel at peace with the people you choose to work with. We’d love the chance to show you what that feels like.
